Lectures

Adventures with 60 Degree Triangle Quilts--an evolving adventure with Hexified Panel Quilts

This a ~1 hour trunk show presentation is available for guilds and small groups. $250

Join Liz as she takes you through her journey using 60 degree triangles to make hexies that produced a variety of quilts. Her journey touched on One Block Wonders, Stack-and-Whacks, and has evolved into her original design Hexified Panel Quilts, a hybrid that merges techniques learned along the way.

Dancing with Thread

This a ~1 hour lecture/demonstration is available for guilds and small groups. $250

Using your fabric or panel as the canvas, add various weights and textures of thread to create depth and texture to your quilting. Watch Liz's evolution as a sit-down free motion quilter as her quilting became more complex by playing with a variety of tools as she became more proficient. Adding ruler work, playing with stencils for inspiration, changing thread weights and types, and experimenting with designs that complimented her quilts, all contribute to the beautiful quilts she will share with you.

Think Small for the Wall--Hexified

This a ~1 hour lecture/demonstration is available for guilds and small groups. $250

As the workshops continue to come around, Liz has found herself making samples of smaller Hexified Panel Quilts, often starting a new one to demonstrate the various steps at each class. The collection of smaller Hexified Panel Quilts has grown and now can be presented as a stand-alone trunk show with examples as small as a 10x12" mug-rug to moderate sized wall hangings made with 22x24" panels. Lots of variation and fun stories to go with!

Think Small for the Wall--Eclectic

This a ~1 hour lecture/demonstration is available for guilds and small groups. $250

What started out as experimenting with machine embroidery designs being framed as wall-hangings and grew into sample size projects for classes has turned into a whole collection of wall-hanging size quilts! Learn their stories and enjoy an eclectic mix of quilting techniques that includes hand pieced and hand quilted, machine embroidered, machine pieced and appliqued techniques, and more!

UFOs, Orphans and More!

This a ~1 hour lecture/demonstration is available for guilds and small groups. $250

Wondering what to do with those unfinished projects or sampler blocks that didn't make the cut? Too many tops left unfinished or waiting for borders? Have you been saving those tiny half-square triangles for a future project? You're not alone! As quilters, we're prone to collect the leftovers being sure we will someday use them. Gain insight and have some laughs as we look at new ways to approach these "problem" projects that seem to keep piling up.
